House Of The Young Recap: The Say Mikey Interview

By now, the homie Say Mikey is family on Sliktron, he's back for another interview, after another dope showing, this time at House of The Young.

TheRadioShaq: How did HOTY compare to other showcases you’ve done?

Say Mikey: It's pretty high up there out of all the shows I've done. The theme was the 90s and I personally love that era.

TheRadioShaq: Do you feel like this was your best showing to date?

Say Mikey: Yeah, I was a little more prepared than usual and, for the first time, I got to do something live and actually see people's reaction as it came together.

TheRadioShaq: How was the energy in the room?

Say Mikey: Very positive. The 90s theme made it even better from the music to the vibe.

TheRadioShaq: Did you feel like your art was appreciated?

Say Mikey: Yeah, I did. I got asked about my pieces throughout the entire night and I even sold some pieces.

TheRadioShaq: Were you motivated to create even more once the night was over?

Say Mikey: Yeah, after each show I get that adrenaline rush and new ideas start flowing. Like, what I could do next that "wows" people more.

TheRadioShaq: What was your favorite piece from the night?

Say Mikey: The Erykah Badu picture.

TheRadioShaq: How important is that piece to you?

Say Mikey: It was my first piece I've ever done live at a show and seeing how ppl were drawn to seeing how it came out...it gave me a new high, so pretty important.

TheRadioShaq: Who were some of your favorite artists from the night?

Say Mikey: Don't get me wrong, everybody did their thing that night. The performances were dope but Daniel Heartless, Chase N. Cashe, and the Mulherin brothers were my favorites.

TheRadioShaq: Were you nervous displaying your work on a stage such as HOTY?

Say Mikey: Out of all the shows I've done, I would think I would've shaken being nervous but I haven't. It's only because I know they have a lot of good artists out there and I actually want people to like mine.

TheRadioShaq: Where do you take your career from here?

Say Mikey: I honestly want to do my own showcase. Who knows? It might be sooner than you think.
